東京都出身。
大学卒業後、パリに留学しブライダルを学ぶ。
1965年、日本初のブライダル専門店をオープン。
1969年、全日本ブライダル協会を設立。
1999年、東洋人初のイタリアファッション協会の正会員となる。
2003年、パリクチュールコレクションに初参加し、以後毎年参加。
2013年、アジアオートクチュール協会の創立メンバーに就任。
2019年、「令和元年度 文化庁長官表彰」を受賞。
日本のブライダル業界の第一人者として業界をけん引している。

Yumi Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yumi Katsura graduated from Kyoritsu Women’s University with a degree from the Department of Apparel Science Studies. After moving to Paris, Katsura studied the techniques of haute couture in Paris.
In 1965, Katsura opened her first bridal salon, as well as presented the first bridal collection show ever held in Japan.
In 1969, she published “All Japan Bridal Association”.
In 1969, She was the first Oriental to become a full member of the Italian Fashion Institute.
In 2003, she participated in “Paris Couture Collection” then she participate every year.
In 2013, she became a founding member of “Asian Haute Couture Association”.
In 2019, she received the Agency for Cultural Affairs Commissioner’s Commendation.
She is a leader in the Japanese bridal industry.
